«Standing hand in hand when making our dreams come true.»
There’s a lot of smoking in the short film “Knife Hula Hoop”, some of it probably weed. Mostly, though, we’re watching three friends killing time for a day. Swimming, playing darts, having a playful tussle in a meadow just before sunset. One of the friends is Ekan Onaiwu. It’s all in Swiss German, with English subtitles translating the deliberately trivial dialogue. For the theatre project “Black*space”, Ekan Onaiwu and his girlfriend Binta Kopp recently staged an exhibition about love. This collective states its purpose as bringing together activists and artists in the name of social-political progress. Does this give us a glimpse of what Switzerland could look like in the future?
